Church Duties and Holiday Fun: My Christmas Reflection

    Christmas vacation is always a special time for me, not just because of the holidays but also because I get to serve in church as an altar server. It’s a lot of responsibility, but I feel honored to play a role in the celebrations. This year, my Christmas was a mix of faith, family, and fun, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend it.


    Being an altar server during the Christmas season means my schedule gets pretty hectic. At our barangay church, the Mass is at 6:00 PM, and at our parish church, it’s at 4:00 AM. Waking up early for those dawn Masses can be exhausting, but there’s something so peaceful about the early mornings, the cool breeze, the quiet streets, and the beautiful songs echoing in the church. Even though it’s tiring, it always feels rewarding to help serve and celebrate such an important season.


    On Christmas Eve, after the final Mass, my sisters and I went to church together for the midnight service. It was one of my favorite moments because the energy was so warm and festive. After Mass, we came home for a delicious family dinner. The house smelled amazing, and everyone was in high spirits. Once dinner was done, we gathered around the Christmas tree and opened presents. It’s a simple tradition, but the joy of seeing everyone smile as they opened their gifts made the moment unforgettable.


    Christmas Day started early again, but this time, it wasn’t for Mass, it was for some family fun. After breakfast, we packed up and headed out to go swimming. Spending the day at the pool was a perfect way to relax after the busy days leading up to Christmas. We laughed, played, and enjoyed the warm sunshine. It felt like a reward for all the hard work and sleepless nights.


    Looking back, my Christmas vacation was a beautiful blend of spiritual devotion and family bonding. From serving at Mass to celebrating with my loved ones and enjoying a sunny day at the pool, I’m truly grateful for every moment. It’s memories like these that make the season so meaningful to me.
